VNA HEALTH GROUP HOLIDAY DINNER DANCE NETS NEARLY $65,000 FOR HOSPICE

The sixth annual Visiting Nurse Association Health Group Holiday Dinner Dance was held December 1st at the Spring Lake Golf Club in Spring Lake, N.J. This year’s event honored Frank and Diane Vigilante of Fair Haven. It was a fun-filled evening of dinner, dancing and camaraderie for a great cause. More than 200 guests attended the affair, including the Spring Lake Mayor, Jennifer Naughton and the Vigilante children and grandchildren. The event netted nearly $65,000 to benefit the VNA Health Group Hospice Program. Proceeds translate directly into the care needed to meet patient needs at the end of life.

The festive event was co-chaired by Teresa and William Egan of Avon, Jean and Dr. Vincent Zales of Spring Lake, and Jeannie and Kevin Wheat of Manasquan.

“Frank and Diane Vigilante are both longtime supporters of VNA Health Group and invaluable members of our community,” stated Dr. Steven Landers, president and CEO of VNA Health Group.  “Frank has helped to guide the organization as a VNA board trustee since 1993 and Diane’s value as a hospice volunteer is immeasurable; providing comfort to so many of our terminally ill patients.  We are honored to recognize their contributions to our organization.”

The VNAHG Hospice Program was one of the first certified programs in New Jersey, started over 30 years ago.  In 2011 nearly 1,800 patients and families received care and support.  Through hospice, a team of nurses, physicians, home health aides, social workers, rehabilitation therapists, pastoral care and bereavement counselors work together with volunteers to provide a very special kind of care for the terminally ill and supportive services for their loved ones.  Complementary therapies, including music, massage pet therapy and Reiki are also available.
