iNeed an App to Run?

So I guess things have changed over the years? People don't drive a route and track the mileage on their car and then make a goal to run that route?

So I guess things have changed over the years?  People don't drive a route and track the mileage on their car and then make a goal to run that route?  No more treadmills with distance measurements on them?  It's all about the paid apps for your iPhone?

I found a few that I thought might be good info to share:

1.  RunKeeper

Good points:  Maps, Tracking mileage, monitors speed, takes into account different activities (not just running), set up music playlist to go along with workout.  Even better Point:  FREE

2.  Calorie Counter and Diet

Good points:  Easy to use, BIG food database, you can customize (set up favorites), can work stand alone (doesn't need to be hooked up to internet in case you lose your signal), tracks more than cardio exercise, set up with your friends!  FREE!

3.  Nike + GPS

Good points:  It's Nike so you know it's not going to be bad.  Motiviational, tracking, customize goals, sharing of info, good record keeping.

Not so great point:  It is primarilly for running and not much flexibility for other types of exercise activity.  Definitely NOT free:  $1.99

If you use other apps or have had bad experiences with those listed above, please feel free to share them here in the comments.

The iPhone is not the center of the universe, however nice it is. If you're serious about training, you have to look at Polar USA's products. They have monitors for every level of training. End of day, it's about training, not your phone. Go Polar and get serious about sport. Fondle your iPhone in stolen moments.

Www.polarusa.com right? Looks like really great stuff. Thanks! Looks like they cover different types of exercise (which was the issue I found with Nike's app). And they even have a cardio sports bra!!!!! Nice!!!!
