How RFH Made the AP Honor Roll Grade

How the high school turns out high achievers

This is the second year in a row that Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School has been recognized by the College Board as a member of the state's Advanced Placement (AP) District Honor Roll.

What it means is that RFH has successfully maintained a "balancing act" of expanding access to AP classes by offering them to a more diverse group of students while seeing a market improvement on end-of-course AP exams, a release from RFH said.

As one of 36 schools in New Jersey to be placed on what is the fourth annual honor roll of its kind, the release added that 628 RFH students are currently enrolled in 18 AP courses at the school, an increase of 32 percent over last year.

And, the percentage of students scoring a three (passing grade) or above on the tests has also gone up, it added.

There's also a new class that's been added to the AP curriculum — AP English Language and Composition, which has attracted a record-high 70 juniors and seniors.

A total of 477 schools from across the U.S. and in Canada were selected for AP District Honor Roll Status.

"I am so proud of the fact that RFH students continually challenge themselves academically," RFH Principal Tracy Handerhan said in the release. "They truly recognize the long-term value of a rigorous secondary education. I would be remiss if I did not speak to the high support network provided by our faculty. They believe in their students."

College Board is a not-for-profit national organization providing students with a path to college opportunities, including financial support and scholarships.
