Celebrity Chefs of NJ Books Signing Sunday Supper BenefitsBrookdale Culinary Students

Author Teresa Politano joins David Burke, Hazlet native, owner of David Burke Fromagerie (www.fromagerierestaurant.com) and one of the “The Legends” profiled in Celebrity Chefs of New Jersey:  Their Stories, Recipes and Secrets to host an afternoon book signing followed by a signature David Burke Sunday Supper at 3:00 p.m., on Sunday January 23, 2011. The event includes an autographed book and a three-course Sunday supper with Burke and Politano for $75.00 per person. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Culinary Education Center in Asbury Park, NJ, a collaborative culinary program of Brookdale Community College and the Monmouth County Vocational School District.

“It’s an honor to be included in the book but more importantly, New Jersey chefs have elevated the quality and diversity of restaurants, offering us meals that rival any New York culinary experience,” notes Chef David Burke.  “With a culinary school on the Jersey Shore we are cultivating the next generation of successful chefs to continue what we’ve started.”

Politano, a food writer and restaurant reviewer for the Star-Ledger and Inside New Jersey and Adjunct Professor at Rutgers University profiles David Burke and 21 fellow New Jersey stellar chefs in categories from “The Legends” and “The Stars” to “Chefs to Watch” with a surprising “Sweet Finish.”  In addition to sharing their stories and recipes, each chef reveals their secret recipe for success.

Culinary Education Center Dean Patricia Gallo notes, “We are fortunate to have numerous Jersey Shore restaurants, including the kitchen at David Burke Fromagerie, where our graduates can apply the skills they learned through our program. This event will help us create further opportunities for students to enter and succeed in the culinary field.”

Reservations for this event can be purchased through Brookdale Community College at 732-224-2220 or online at pgallo@brookdalecc.edu. RSVP check-in will be at the door.  Deadline for reservations is January 19, 2011.
