Post-Sandy Panel Discussion

The
Rumson Garden Club will host a Post-Sandy panel discussion on “Changing
Landscapes” at the Rumson Country Club on Tuesday October 22nd at 11 am.
Experts from the American Littoral Society in Sandy Hook will offer strategies
to incorporate restoration of the coastal environment and natural defenses into
rebuilding post Hurricane Sandy. This will include information about the
importance of and benefits from restoring the natural landscape outside our
homes and along our coast.

The featured experts
include: Tim Dillingham, American Littoral Society Executive Director, who will
discuss the importance of natural defenses such as dune and marsh systems to
the protection of our communities;

Helen Henderson,
Atlantic Coast Program Manager, who will explain “Bayscaping” – a program that
empowers people to use native plants; as well as, Judy DeFiglio, horticulturist

coastal native plants.
