INSTALLATION OF NEW CANTOR AT CBI
Accompanied by songs and prayers,
from the preschoolers to the adult choir,
Dov Goldberg will be formally installed as the new Cantor and Director of
Education at Congregation B’nai Israel (CBI) on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at 10 am.
The installation ceremony will take place in the main sanctuary. Everyone in
the community is invited to attend. A luncheon will immediately follow.
Francine Semaya, President of CBI
stated, “this is a day of celebration. Cantor Goldberg joined us just a few
months ago but his warmth and enthusiasm have already filled our halls, our
classrooms and our sanctuary. We are blessed that he has such a beautiful voice
and a love of Judaism but also that he is approachable and loves working with
people of all ages. We hope that everyone,
including current and former members, as well as newcomers and friends, will
join us.
Cantor Goldberg came to CBI from
Portland, Maine where he served as Director of Congregational Learning at
Temple Beth El. With a background
and education in Judaic studies, theology and psychology, Cantor Goldberg has
held various teaching, administrative and cantorial positions at synagogues,
day schools and a Jewish college preparatory boarding school in Greensboro,
North Carolina. “He is a wonderful teacher with an incredible depth of
knowledge, ” said Semaya.

“When we hired Cantor Goldberg,
we got even more than we hoped for,” said Sandy Rosenbloom, Co-Chair of the
Installation Committee. “His
parents, Sol and Marilyn, and his wife, Danielle, moved to Fair Haven and have
become an integral part of our CBI family. Sol, a Rabbi for more than 40 years in Rutland Vermont,
reads Torah at many of our Shabbat services and his wife, Danielle, is running
our sisterhood gift shop.”
