Community Corner

Hurricane Sandy One-Year Anniversary

Sea Bright residents are invited to a community dinner and bonfire to acknowledge the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Sandy. The gathering will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Sea Bright Firehouse, Ocean Avenue.

After a buffet dinner, residents will assemble on the beach, where the Sea Bright Fire Department will light a bonfire to symbolize the town’s unity and progress toward recovery, even as residents continue to cope with the storm’s aftermath.

During the event, local artist Megan Gilhool will host a Hope Canvas, where residents can share messages and thoughts reflecting on the year passed, and hopes for the future. The completed canvas will hang in Borough Hall.

For more information on the event, please email Kathy Morris at SBrecreation@comcast.net.
