Harbor House Sleep Out for Homeless Kids

Harbor House Sleep Out for Homeless Kids

Each year across the country there is an estimated 1.6 million homeless youth. Join them for one night and sleep out to save their lives. On Friday, June 6th, 2014 the Harbor House will be hosting their first ever sleep out event. We are asking YOU to sleep out with us for one night to save the life of a homeless kid.

The rate of homeless kids in your community may seem slim but the reality is different. In Ocean and Monmouth Counties, there is an estimated 300 homeless kids. Many are running away from abusive homes, violent situations, drug stricken family members, or the death of their guardian. It may be hard to recognize them because they couch surf or sleep on local busses and trains. Many homeless kids feel invisible at times but by sleeping out we can show them that they are not alone. We will let them know that we see their struggles and bravery, and we are going to sleep out one night, so eventually they will not need to.

We are asking you to raise $250 as well as awareness for the homeless youth in Ocean and Monmouth counties. Participants will be supplied with a hat, sleeping bag, and cardboard box as well as a night time snack and breakfast.
