RFH Crew, the independent, competitive crew team for serious athletes, which welcomes any student attending Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School, proudly congratulates two of its varsity athletes who are continuing their rowing careers at prestigious universities in 2013.

As of this date, senior Hope Knockenhauer, of Fair Haven, plans to row for Duke University and senior Shannon Swikart, of Rumson, will cox for Clemson University. Hope and Shannon follow in the footsteps of RFH Crew’s 2012 distinguished varsity athletes who are now rowing at other major universities: Fair Haven’s Dughan Ahimovic, is a member of the Yale Lightweight Crew team; Fair Haven’s Tessa Liberi, is a member of the University of Massachusetts Crew team; and Rumson’s Jacquie Moser, is a member of the Fairfield University Crew team.

RFH Crew, which rows out of Fair Haven Yacht Works, wrapped up a very successful 2012 season with the team winning medals 4 times as well as having a boat qualify for the Scholastic Rowing Association of America’s National Championships. The RFH Crew Boys Varsity 4+, also for the first time, advanced to the semi-finals at Stotesbury, the largest high school regatta in the country.

Applications are currently being accepted for RFH Crew’s Spring 2013 season, which runs from March 11 through late May. RFH Crew is looking forward to an exciting Spring 2013 season, with over 50 athletes, a strengthened coaching staff, upgraded equipment and participation in six regattas. Visit www.rfhcrew.com or call 732-842-7142 with any questions. RFH Crew will host an informational open house on Wednesday, February 13 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Fair Haven at 7:30 p.m. Students from Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School who are interested in joining RFH Crew and want to learn more about the team are invited to attend along with their parents.

“RFH Crew prides itself on the fact that any athlete who makes practices and puts in the effort will race during the season, even first year novices,” says Karyn Frank, RFH Crew Board President. “We instill in our athletes the crew values of sportsmanship, integrity, discipline and honor. Our athletes share a strong bond, and our parents are actively involved in supporting our program.”
