New Jersey Election 2013: Republicans Sweep Monmouth Races

Arnone, DiMaso and Golden win re-election.

Monmouth Republicans will retain control of all county offices following a sweep of two freeholder seats and the sheriff’s race.

Incumbent Freeholder Director Thomas Arnone of Neptune City was elected to a second full term with 98,832 votes, according to unofficial results from the Monmouth County Clerk’s Office. Holmdel resident and Freeholder Deputy Director Serena DiMaso received 95,629 ballots. DiMaso was elected to a one-year unexpired term last election after being appointed to the board in January 2012.

Democratic freeholder candidate Brian Froelich of Spring Lake had 58,450 tallies and running mate Lawrence Luttrell of Holmdel received 56,394.

In the sheriff’s race, incumbent Republican Shaun Golden of Howell was elected to a second term with 102,840 votes. Democratic challenger Ruben Scolavino of Freehold had 54,923 ballots.
