Prosecutor: Assistant Superintendent Failed to Report Possible Sex Abuse Of 4-year-old Pupil

Wall — The former assistant superintendent of Wall Township Schools was indicted Monday morning on charges she failed to immediately report a possible sexual assault of a 4-year-old special needs student by a teacher and then lied to police and tried to cover up her inaction, according to the indictment.

Family Enters Guilty Pleas in 2010 Murder Case

A father and daughter team pleaded guilty today to a 2010 murder, while the matriarch copped to her role in trying to set up a hit on the victim’s mother.

Thomas Dorsett, 66, and Kathleen Dorsett, 38, of Ocean Township, appeared before Monmouth County Superior Court Judge Anthony J. Mellaci, Jr. on Thursday and pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in connection with the beating death of Stephen Moore, of Manchester, in Long Branch.

So Long to Sea Bright's Mount Sandy

They called it Mount Sandy.

It was a poignant remnant of Hurricane Sandy's devastating effect on the slip of a shore town nestled between the Atlantic Ocean and the Shrewsbury River — Sea Bright.

When Sandy hit the just more than a mile stretch of peninsula and the two bodies of water met, what was the beach ended up in road. Since then, workers piled it in the public beach parking lot, leaving its mammoth mounds as a surreal reminder of just how much was lost and gathered back together again.

 Cassegrande Gets Support for Sick Pay Bill

Monmouth County — Assemblywoman Caroline Casagrande has introduced a bill that would rein in the use of accrued sick days by retiring public employees.

The bill, A-1943, is backed by the League of Municipalities, according to a release.

Prince Harry to Visit Mantoloking, Seaside Heights

Jersey Shore — Britain's Prince Harry will visit Mantoloking and Seaside Heights during a May 14 visit to New Jersey to survey damage from Superstorm Sandy, a report from The Associated Press said Monday.

Mantoloking Mayor George Nebel said Gov. Christie will accompany the prince on a brief walk down Barnegat Lane – which runs along Barnegat Bay – and then head to Seaside Heights, according to the report.

Parkway Exit 105 Reconfiguration Will Begin by End of Summer

Eatontown - The Garden State Parkway Exit 105 reconfiguration project will begin by the "end of summer," according to New Jersey Turnpike Authority Spokesman Thomas Feeney.

The project will also feature one change in response to local concerns. A left-turn lane and traffic signal will be added at the intersection of Wayside Road and Pinebrook Road. This is being done to help ease traffic concerns from the increased amount of people expected to use Wayside Road.

Monmouth Park Looking To Grow Under Second Year of New Ownership

Oceanport — Monmouth Park's second year under the ownership of the New Jersey Thoroughbred Horsemen's Association (NJTHA) and Darby Development LLC is looking like it will be as productive as 2012.

The park's racing season kicks off on Saturday, May 11 and runs through Oct. 6, and many improvements are planned for this season and the future, NJTHA and Darby Development Advisor Dennis Drazin said during a press conference Tuesday afternoon.
