Road Closure: Water Company Upgrades

Company fixing damage from last year's pipe burst

After a pipe failure in June at the New Jersey American Water treatment plant, the company will be making repairs this week.

On April 1, New Jersey American Water Company plans to install operational upgrades to its water delivery system at its Swimming River reservoir plant.

This will require the closure of Swimming River Road to traffic between Newman Springs Road in Middletown and Route 537 in Tinton Falls/Colts Neck.

Due to the high volume of vehicular traffic on Swimming River Road, Monmouth County officials have required this work be scheduled between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., to minimize disruptions to the traveling public. New Jersey American Water Company anticipates work will be complete by April 5.

This closure will facilitate repairs necessitated by last summer’s water main collapse and will facilitate the removal of temporary pipes from the roadway.
