The aCATemy Awards are the Cats Meow at the Monmouth County SPCA Adoption Event

The Monmouth County SPCA hosted a red carpet adoption event with over 160 cats and kittens available for adoption on Saturday afternoon.

Everyone was dressed to the nines at the  in Eatontown Saturday afternoon for the prestigious Red Catpet aCATemy Awards Adoption event.  The MCSPCA combined efforts with Best Friends Animal Society Network Charities as well as the Liberty Humane Society of Jersey City, St. Hubert’s in Madison and Noah’s Ark of Ledgewood to bring over 160 cats together for one afternoon of glamor and adoptions.

There was the feel of mixing with Hollywood royalty as many of the cats were specially named for the star studded event.  Strolling around the adoption room there were sightings of Bengal Affleck , Jerry Siamesefeld and Tailor Swift among others.

All adopting families were celebrated with an aCATemy award presented by our very own 2010 Miss New Jersey, Breille Lacosta at the Homeward Bound Adoption Center.  Alice Devito of Ocean took advantage of the Two for One Special Adoption Pricing and added Daisy and Feather to her family.

“The importance of events such as these cannot be underestimated,” said Jamie Lyn Rubin, program manager of Best Friends Animal Society. “Every year 70 percent of euthanasia cases in U.S. animal shelters are cats and only 2 percent of lost pets are ever returned to their families.  It is so important that events like this find new homes for these cats.”

If a cat is not your cup of tea, check out the  on March 5 and 6 at the Monmouth County SPCA.  For more information about adopting, please call the MCSPCA Homeward Bound Adoption Center at 732-440-1525.
