Strong Gusts, Power Outages Hit Monmouth

More than 10,000 without power in Monmouth County.

More than 10,000 were without power as 50-mph wind gusts hit Central New Jersey and the Jersey Shore Friday morning.

Those in the Rumson-Fair Haven area managed to beat the outages, though many were left with tossed holiday decorations, garbage cans and brush. But other areas close weren't quite as lucky.

As of this morning, Middletown had roughly 1,466 without power. And there were more than 1,500 without power in Long Branch, Eatontown and Tinton Falls. Some 2,000 households were without power in Howell, according to the JCP&L power outage.

In Freehold Township, 1,729 lost electricity, as did 441 in Freehold Borough.  and over 500 customers in Marlboro and 436 in Colts Neck were in the dark.
