Rumson's Cups and Cakes Featured in Dessert Wars

Local Rumson Bakery, , competed in the Dessert Wars this week.

It was a packed house at the competition on May 24 at Branches Catering in West Long Branch. The event was hosted by 94.3 The Point.

For the first time, local bakeries, restaurants and caterers battled to see whose desserts really take the cake. The event featured 17 bakers from Monmouth and Ocean County competing against one another.

• Eatcake 24/7 - Matawan
• Hoffman's Ice Cream - Pt. Pleasant, Spring Lake, & Little Silver
• LaLa Chocolate Chip Cookies
• Mr. Green Tea Ice Cream Co. - Manalapan
• Nicchio Ristorante - Belmar
• Nino's Coal Fired Pizza - Toms River
• Sylvias Chocolates and Gifts - Oakhurst
• Vintner's Circle - Middletown
• West End Confectioners
• Ye Olde Pie Shoppe - Little Silver

Mr. Green Tea Ice Cream Company's Ginger Ice Cream confection took the top prize in a field of 23 desserts.

All proceeds from the event went to the Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties. A representative from The Point estimated that more than 1,000 people attended Dessert Wars.
