Remembrance: WW II Veterans Sharing

Battle of the Bulge soldiers reunite, relate experiences

In honor of Veterans Day, Patch has brought back this rare footage of a gathering of World War II veterans in May. Click on the above video, enjoy and thank you to our vets!

They were called members of the "Greatest Generation" and Middletown Patch had the rare opportunity to catch up with some of the last left of that dying breed of World War II last week, right before Memorial Day.

The holiday has since passed, but the memories of these old soldiers will not easily fade away.

Following the rededication of the Battle of the Bulge Monument at Middletown's Thorne Middle School, veterans of the war, and that battle, gathered at VFW Post #2179 in the Port Monmouth section of Middletown to share lunch and stories.

Many veterans reconnected to each other and to their war experiences.

Patch correspondent Steve Rogers was on hand to capture both the stories and the moments of connection and reconnection.

A second video of more conversations with the vets will follow tomorrow. Stay tuned.
