R-FH Still Under Boil Water Advisory

Rumson, Fair Haven and Sea Bright are three of 22 towns where residents must boil their water before consuming it.

Following the collapse of a New Jersey American Water water main at the Swimming River Reservoir in Tinton Falls, , and Sea Bright remain three of several Monmouth County towns under a boil-water advisory as of early Saturday afternoon, Monmouth County officials announced.

Shrewsbury residents, along with those living in Middletown, Holmdel, Aberdeen, Highlands, Rumson, Fair Haven, Little Silver, Oceanport, Sea Bright, Tinton Falls, Shrewsbury, Long Branch, Eatontown, West Long Branch, Deal, Allenhurst, Loch Arbor, Neptune, Monmouth Beach, Shrewsbury and Ocean townships must boil their water to avoid consuming potentially harmful bacteria and microorganisms. Shrewsbury and Ocean townships were added to the list this morning.

With Monmouth County under a state of emergency, all residents throughout the county are under an outdoor water ban and are urged to conserve water until further notice, a released statement fromt the county said.

"The outdoor ban means no watering lawns, shrubs or gardens, no filling swimming pools or washing cars," it added. "Indoor conservation measures should include refraining from using washing machines and dishwashers, limiting showering times and flushing toilets less frequently."

No timetable for a resolution has been set.

Water is being distributed by the county. From a released statement:

This morning, water distribution sites have opened at Middletown High School North, 63 Tindall Rd.,Middletown; Middletown High School South, 900 Nut Swamp Rd., Middletown, and Wolf Hill Park, 3Crescent Place, Oceanport. Hours at all sites are from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The Fair Haven Acme received a fresh supply of bottled water not too long ago; but, that supply is quickly dwindling.
