Get Out and Adopt a Puppy, Sing Karaoke and Enjoy Bottomless Mimosas

You're in for one fantastic weekend!

Our Get Out column presents you with five of the coolest things you can do this weekend.

Enjoy the stylings of a local rock star, become a rock star yourself, travel back in time to relive Colonial times, drink unlimited champagne with your Sunday brunch and help out a bunch of deserving puppies. Rock stars, time travel, champagne and puppies... does it get any better?

Why you should go:  New Jersey's own Matt O'Ree will be bringing his bluesy rock to Jamian's in Red Bank. Enjoy the music in this laid back environment. And since there's no cover, you'll have more money in your pocket to enjoy Jamian's nightly food and drink specials.

Why you should go:  Have you ever wondered what it was like to live in Colonial times?  Experience 18th century-style, open hearth cooking at the Covenhoven House and take a tour of the historic home. Built in 1752, this well-preserved local landmark served as headquarters for British General Sir Henry Clinton before the Battle of Monmouth in 1778.

Saturday Night Karaoke at CJ Montana's

When & where:  Saturday, from 10 p.m. to close at  

Why you should go:  Karaoke is the great equalizer. Whether you're the next American Idol or have a singing voice that causes dogs to bay at the moon, you're welcome and encouraged to play rock star in front of a group of friends and strangers.  

What it will cost:  Free

When & where:  Saturday & Sunday, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at 

Why you should go:  Have you been searching for a fuzzy, cuddly companion?  Have the kids been incessantly bugging you for a dog? The Monmouth County SPCA is bringing in over 50 adorable puppies from crowded shelters in South Carolina to help find them loving homes. There will also be plenty of wonderful older dogs, so you'll be sure to find the best fit for your family.

Champagne Brunch at Salt Creek Grille

When & where:  Sunday, 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at 

Why you should go:  After a weekend of karaoke and puppy-adopting, sit back and indulge in the luxury of a relaxing Sunday brunch. Bring your friends and family and enjoy unlimited champagne and mimosas.

What it will cost:  Adults are $29 and children under 12 are $12
