Enjoy Comic Louie Anderson, Listen to Jazz, and Tango the Night Away

It's a weekend full of jazz, comedy, charity, dancing and rock & roll.

As the week winds down, you may find yourself wondering what to do this weekend. Well, wonder no more. Here are five great ideas to make the best of your precious free-time.

When & where: Friday, 8 p.m. at 

Why you should go: Louie Anderson is a comedy veteran who got his start with routines about his childhood as one of eleven siblings. Since then, he's found success as a stand-up comedian and author, has had cameos in tons of shows and movies, produced an award-winning cartoon called "Life with Louie," and even hosted Family Feud. Come see this humorous renaissance man live, in person, at Count Basie.

Why you should go: Few dances are as passionate and intriguing as the tango. Tango Pantera is a Middletown-based group dedicated to teaching and enjoying the wonders of Argentine Tango. Milonga Viviana is one of two monthly socials where dancers at all levels meet to share this sexy dance. It is hosted by Tango Pantera's founder, Lee Sager. No partner is necessary and light refreshments will be served. Be sure to dress to the nines.

When & where: Saturday, 10 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. at 

Why you should go: The Mike Dalton Band was recently voted #1 cover band by the readers of Night & Day magazine. In addition to wowing crowds with their covers, they've also produced several albums of their own original songs. This talented, local band can seemingly do it all. Enjoy their charismatic live show this Saturday.

When & where: Sunday, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at 

Why you should go: In celebration of St. Patrick's Day, Billy Lawlor, a renowned pianist, has put together a great set of jazz, Irish tunes and a variety of other pieces from the American songbook. He has assembled an impressive team to join him, including horn players Steve Jankowski and Tom Timko, both currently in Blood, Sweat & Tears and The Fab Faux; Steve Beskrone on upright bass (one time bassist for Ray Charles); and Don Mulvaney on drums.

What it will cost: Free

When & where: Sunday, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bayside Bar & Grill, 6 Broad Street, Keyport

Why you should go: Enjoy live music, drink specials and 50/50s, all in support for the Blue Valor Motorcycle Run, hosted by the Ken Tietjen Memorial Foundation. All proceeds will go to benefit the May 12 event, which will feature a group of motorcyclists making the 226-mile trip from Ground Zero to Washington D.C. in honor of fallen police officers and to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy.
