Doggie Swim Park Open at Kennel Nearby
The "swim park" re-opened on a recent hot day at 'Dogs on the Farm and Cats Too.' The dog days of summer can't be far away.
Barking dogs rushed through the gates to splash in the newly filled swimming pools with waterfalls on "Swim Park Grand Re-Opening Day" May 10 at one of the area's most bucolic dog kennels, located on a horse farm in the Chapel Hill section of Middletown.
The staff videotaped the antics of some of the 60 dogs boarding or visiting for the day to share on the popular Dogs on the Farm and Cats Too Facebook page, which doting dog "moms and dads" peek at from work.
"The dogs are very much like kids," said owner Karen Leipzig a longtime special education teacher who retired from Middletown school district to run Dogs on the Farm with husband Howard, son Jason and a staff of about 7 more. "I miss teaching, but right now I have my animals and I have my family, and this is where I like to be."
