5 Things You Need to Know Today: Sept. 15

A round-up of useful information and events happening around Rumson and Fair Haven today.

1. Not a Beach Day: According to the National Weather Service, there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms today, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 3 pm. It will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 82 degrees. Winds will be out of the west at 10 mph becoming northeast with a 60 percent chance of rain. 

2. What's For Lunch?: If you are a Fair Haven student you'll like the answer to that question because three local businesses will deliver their fare to your school. Rumson students and businesses are out of luck though since their lunch program was replaced a few years ago with a corporate option. Patch takes a look here at the impact of that move.

3. Boy Scouts, Historians Meet: Rumson Historic Preservation Commission will meet tonight at 6 pm at Borough Hall. Boy Scout Troop 125 meets tonight at 7:30 pm at Christ Church United Methodist Church on Ridge Rd. in Fair Haven. 4. New Horizons: Rumson Country Day School will host a gala Saturday night Sept. 17 to benefit its which benefits local area low income students. Come find out how students' lives are changed and celebrate the end of another great summer at the Horizons Gala, an evening of dinner and dancing at RCDS. Special guest will be Brian Williams, anchor and managing editor at NBC Nightly News, with Jack Ford, legal analyst at CBS News. For more information, please contact the gala organizers.

5. Rock the Dock: Tomorrow night the popular concert series returns to . The Haven will kick off the evening at 6 pm, followed by River Road at 8 pm. Admission is free, however donations will be accepted to support the Centennial Committee. Donations are tax deductible and can be made out to the Foundation of Fair Haven Corporation.
