5 Things You Need to Know Today: Nov. 8

A round-up of useful information and events happening around Rumson and Fair Haven today.

Here is a list of 5 things you need to know today:

1. Tuesday: Grab your sunglasses and ditch the winter coat as you head out the door to vote today. According to the National Weather Service, today will be sunny with a high near 66 degrees and a north wind between 3 and 5 mph. Tonight will be mostly clear with a low around 52 degrees and a south wind between 3 and 6 mph.

3. Mandatory Vote? By some official projections, as few as 30 percent of registered voters may turn out for Tuesday's elections throughout New Jersey, when candidates for the state legislature, county freeholder as well as mayor and council in many localities will all be on the ballot. According to an opinion piece in The New York Times, 31 countries have laws requiring citizens to participate in elections. Could that be the solution to low turnout here? 4. Flu Shots: Stop by the  after voting for a flu shot. Flu shots will be given by Rumson Pharmacy and Certified Immunizer, Mr. Amit Patel for $28 per flu shot. You can call the pharmacy to register 732-842-1234, but walk-in's are welcome. Shots will be administered from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Click for details.

5. Go Dawgs! The (RFH) cross country program has claimed another title in their successfull seaon. The girls team dominated the Central Jersey Group 2 State Sectional Championship. The boys team come in top five. Click to read more and see photos.
