Here is a list of 5 things you need to know today:

1. Sunny Skies: Today will be partly sunny with a high near 67 degrees. There will be a northwest wind at 6 mph becoming south. Tonight, there will be periods of rain and a low around 58 degrees and an east wind between 6 and 8 mph.

2. Dawgs on the Run: The from will compete in the Monmouth County Championship today at Holmdel Park. The winners advance to the Shore Conference Cross Country Championships, featuring the fastest Monmouth and Ocean County teams, held in Lakewood on the 29th of October. The girls are favored so make sure you put on some purple and head to the park to cheer them on at 3:30 this afternoon. Click for more details about the race.

3. Runway for Recovery: Two local women started a fun, fashion fundraiser to for the fight against and six years later they are still rocking the runway for the cause. Tonight, October 18, 2011, from 6:30 – 11:00, the annual “Runway for Recovery” will be held at the Lounge at the Blue Bay Inn, located in Atlantic Highlands. “Runway for Recovery” is a not for profit organization that raises money for the fight against breast cancer and cancer research. 4. Over the River: The (S-31) over the Navesink River officially closed on Monday to motor vehicle, bicycle and pedestrian traffic for to rehabilitate the bridge’s 100-foot, center bascule span. The bridge will be closed until Memorial Day Weekend 2012. As of Tuesday morning, 28 people voted in our online poll regarding which direction they will head and 17 people said they will go through Sea Bright. Click to tell us which way you will head.

5. Register to Vote: Today is the last day to register to vote in the November 8, 2011 elections. For in-person registration, a detailed list of state Superintendents/Commissioners of Registration, their location, as well as information on extended evening hours for October 18 can be found at the Division of Elections website, www.NJElections.org. In Monmouth County, residents may register at the Monmouth County Voter Registration Office at 300 Halls Mills Rd. in Freehold Township until 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 18. Click for more information.
