5 Things You Need to Know Today: May 6

Here is a list of 5 things you need to know today:

1. T.G.I.F: Today will kick off a fabulous spring weekend where many of us will be planning ways to honor our mom's. Today is a good day to get out and finish up that last minute shopping in the sun before the clouds and rain roll in tonight into tomorrow. According to the National Weather Service, today will be mostly sunny, with a high near 66. Tonight there is a chance of showers and will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 50. The rain is expected to continue throughout the weekend.

2. Honor Your Mother: On every other day of the year, mother's everywhere put their children first. Mother's Day is this Sunday, May 8 and there are plenty of ways to show your mom that you appreciate everything she does. Some ideas include taking her out to dinner or pampering her at the spa. 3. Fun Event for a Great Cause: Another great idea for Mother's Day is to check out the VNA Show House. After a 6-week extreme make-over, the VNA celebrated the opening of this year's Stately Homes By-the-SeaDesigner Show House with a gala event. Guests were wined and dined on the grounds of the beautiful show-house and had the opportunity to tour the house before it was officially opened to the public this week. The house will be available for viewing from May 3 through June 12, 2011. 4. Artists of RCDS: Rumson Country Day School recently held its art show.  Art work created by students in 1st through 8th grade was displayed for the enjoyment of friends and family.  Visitors to the Art Show were treated to performances by the 4th grade band, the lower school chorus and the senior school chorus. 5. Rah! Rah! Grab your little football star and cheerleader and head down to Forrestdale for Pop Warner sign ups.
