5 Things You Need to Know Today: March 9th

A round-up useful information and events happening around Rumson and Fair Haven today.

Here is a list of 5 things you need to know today:

1. Bulldog Fans: The girls' basketball team took on Shabazz High School, a number one seed team from Newark, in the final round of the Central Jersey Group 2 NJSIAA tournament game last night. Senior guard Nicole Isaacs hit 6 of her 12 attempts from 3-point range to score 18 points for Rumson, while her twin sister, Stephanie, added 14 points, but it wasn't enough. The girls lost in a tough away game with a final score of 43-65. The record for the girls' team from Shabazz High School is currently 31-0.

2. Bulldog Turned Devil: Congratulations to T3 Shore Lacrosse player Claire Scarrone on her verbal commitment to attend and play lacrosse for Duke University in 2012.  Scarrone, a high school junior, has been playing lacrosse in T3’s Elite program since 2006.  She is also the only New Jersey player in the class of 2012 to be named to ESPN’s Top 25 Juniors on the Rise for lacrosse and is now this week's .

3. 99 Days until RFH Graduation: Last night was the Rumson Fair Haven Regional High School 100 Nights Dinner. This event marks the countdown until graduation for the senior class. At the event, the seniors ate cajun food in the school cafeteria decked out in a Mardi Gras theme. They then enjoyed entertainment including improvisation comedy and a hypnotist.

4. Wellness at Your Fingertips: Two local women are on a mission to bring health and wellness to New Jersey residents. Jen McCarthy from Fair Haven and Maggie Paterno from Red Bank are in the process of developing  YourWellnessNJ.com, a website that is a resource for discovering wellness providers and creating a community with a common interest throughout New Jersey.
