5 Things You Need to Know Today: March 25

A round-up of useful information and events happening around Rumson and Fair Haven today.

Here is a list of 5 things you need to know today:

1. Shaded Vision: Give your umbrella a break and put on some shades. Today is going to be sunny with a high around 42, a perfect way to start the weekend. Enjoy it because according to the National Weather Service, there is a slight chance of snow for Saturday evening into Sunday morning. If you are going to the Fair Haven y on Saturday night be sure to wear a coat. The temperature is expected to dip down into the low 20's during the evening this weekend.

2. United in Song: A tri-district concert will take place in the Rumson Fair Haven Regional High School auditorium today at 12:30 p.m. The concert will highlight the musical talents of students from three different schools. The schools meet at the high school to practice in the morning and then perform in the afternoon. If you are free, head on over to check out the wonderful collaboration of our local students!

3. Rocking Out for a Cause: Last night, hundreds attended the "Night of Classic Rock" benefit concert at Rumson Fair Haven Regional High School. Students from the high school hosted the event to help raise money for the VH1 Save the Music Foundation, an organization that creates and sustains music programs in underfunded school systems throughout the country. The concert raised more than $3,300 for the foundation.

4. Got a Sweet Tooth: Who doesn’t love Girl Scout cookies? Thin Mints, Somoas, Tagalongs, everyone has their favorite. While everyone knows they taste delicious, they are more than just a yummy treat for the Junior Girl Scouts from troops 1595 and 123. They have learned the importance of community service, team work and goal setting through selling those cookies. If you've got a craving, don't worry. Local troops will be at the Acme in Fair Haven this Sunday selling all of your favorites.
