5 Things You Need to Know Today: March 1st

A round-up of information and events useful for people living in Rumson and Fair Haven on March 1st.

Here is a list of 5 Things that you need to know today:

1. The Yummiest Month: March 1st kicks off the third year of , an event that aims to draw residents and those from the surrounding areas to Rumson Restaurants. Each restaurant has specials for the month, ranging from prix fixe menus, to half-priced wines, to affordable priced dinners and brunch specials. Participating restaurants include , Murry MacGreggor's Publik House, , , , and . 

2. Home Sweet Home: Work has begun transforming  the 2011 S. This year, the show house will be the Holly Hill estate located on Navesink River Rd. in Locust. More than 35 of the regions top interior designers, decorators and landscape artists began working their magic on Feb 25. Each designer, decorator or landscaper has been assigned a different room or portion of the grounds. The house will be available for viewing from May 3 through June 12, 2011.

3. BOE Challenge: Local school Board of Education elections are coming up and several vacancies need to be filled. A total of eleven positions are open in all three school districts in Rumson and Fair Haven. The deadline for residents to have their nominating petitions in is March 8. 4. Story Time Tuesdays: Tuesday is the perfect day for reading, imagining and learning at the Rumson Library. The Rumson Library  takes place in the Meeker Children’s Room every Tuesday. The first session for babies is at 10:00 am, the next is 10:30 for toddlers and the last is 11:00 am for pre-school age children.

5. Bulldog Pride: The RFH Boy's Basketball Team beat Sportswood last night with a final score of 57-47 in the  first round of the Central Jersey, Group 2 tournament. The game took place at the RFH gym and Jack Donnelly scored a game-high 23 points. Show your support on March 2nd when boys take on Carteret in the second round at 7 p.m.
