A round-up of useful information and events happening around Rumson and Fair Haven today.

Here is a list of 5 things you need to know today:

1. Feeling Hot, Hot, Hot: According to the National Weather Service, today will be sunny with a high near 91 degrees. There will be a west wind between 9 and 14 mph. Tonight will be mostly cloudy and cooling off a bit with a low around 72 degrees. There is a chance of showers and thunderstorms mainly before 1:00 a.m. With high temperatures scorching our area, click to pick up some tips for how to stay cool and healthy in the heat.

2.  Run Dawgs! The Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School women’s track and field team will send four female athletes to the New Jersey State Meet of Champions held today, June 9. Rachel Christ, a sophomore, and Shannon McCarthy, a junior, will both run the individual 800 meters, before joining teammates Molly Hellman, also a junior,  and Courtney Howley, a freshman, to compete in the 4 x 800 meter relay. The girl’s open 800 meter race is expected to start at 5:00 p.m. at South Plainfield, followed later by the girl’s 4x800 meter relay. 3. Movies in the Park: Grab your blankets and chairs because all summer long Fair Haven residents can enjoy summer movies in the park at Fair Haven Fields. The good guys from Shore Flicks have arranged to show 60 free movies in ten towns across Monmouth county, including Fair Haven. Each movie is free to the public. They came up with the idea to have a different movie theme every week. This past Tuesday night featured Back to the Future as part of 80's comedy week. Next week is Bill Murray week and the following week is "Comedy Zone." 4. Dodging for a Cause: Rumson-Fair Haven High School’s annual dodgeball fundraiser was an opportunity for the Seckler Family to help support Charley’s Fund, named in honor of their cousin. Charley was diagnosed with Duchenne’s muscular dystrophy in 2004 at the age of three. Charley’s Fund raises money for medical research into the disease which progressively robs boys of the use of their muscles and usually limits them to a wheelchair by the age of 10 to 12.
