5 Things You Need to Know Today: June 17

A round-up of useful information and events happening around Rumson and Fair Haven today.

Here is a list of 5 things you need to know today:

1. Shower Likely: According to the National Weather Service, today will be cloudy with a high near 77. Showers are likely after noon. South wind between 11 and 14 mph.  Tonight will be mostly cloudy with a low around 65. More scattered showers and thunderstorms before 2:00 a.m. There will be a west wind between 6 and 9 mph. 

2. Dad's Day: With Father’s Day fast approaching and dad’s tie rack overflowing, why not give dad a Father’s Day gift he won’t soon forget. Patch has rounded up some ideas for gift and fun things to do to celebrate the big guy. Click to read more.

3. Dance the Night Away: After their graduation at Rumson-Fair Haven High School, the students from the Knollwood School marched down Third Street from their alma mater to Sickles school to reach the dance they have been waiting for all year. This is a long time tradition for Fair Haven. The students were amazed when they saw the extent of decorations, food, games and fun set to this year's surprise theme, It's a Shore Thing. 4. Graduation Season: Last night, Forrestdale 8th Graders walked down the aisle to recieve their diplomas. Check Patch for photos and a story about the ceremony. Tonight, at 5:00 p.m., Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School Seniors will be graduating. The ceremony is set to be outside in the stadium. Be aware of traffic around the school on Ridge Rd. before and after the ceremony.

5. Run, Run: The 18th annual 5 mile/ 2mile health walk. Race starts  at 8:30 a.m. Over 2,000 runners are expected. Several roads on the West side of Fair Haven will be closed from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. for the race. Roads affected include Harding Road, Ridge Road, Hance Road and many of the side streets off of Hance. Medals and t-shirts will be given to all runners. After the race there will be a picnic/runner's expo/awards in the park. Miller Lite sponsored post race party at Brannigans with The Tor Miller Band!  Come run or come cheer!
