5 Things You Need to Know Today: June 13

A round-up of useful information and events happening around Rumson and Fair Haven today.

Here is a list of 5 things you need to know today:

1. Drops Keep Falling on My Head: According to the National Weather Service, today will be partly sunny with a high near 73 degrees. There is a chance of sprinkles before 11:00 a.m. with a North wind between 6 and 9 mph. Tonight, there is a chance of showers, mainly after 11pm. The rest of the evening should be mostly cloudy, with a low around 60 degrees. 

2. Flash, Fringe and Fab: More than 600 guests arrived at Middletown's Fairway Farm estate on  June 11 for the 44th Annual Monmouth County "Roaring Twenties" Cancer Ball.  This local fundraising event is the largest single-evening gala on behalf of cancer research and treatment in New Jersey. Since 2000, the Monmouth County Cancer Ball has raised $15 million. Click to check out fabulous photos from the event.

3. Congrats Grads! Holy Cross had their 8th Grade Graduation on Friday, June 10. Bishop David O’Connell was at the ceremony and spoke to the students about their future. While some students have made the decision to pursue their high school careers at Red Bank Catholic, others will take different paths to high schools like Red Bank Regional, Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School, High Tech, etc. Click to read more about the ceremony and the students as well as see photos from the event.

4. Kids Rock at Race: About 250 children came out to participate in the 2nd Annual Kids Triathlon for Bob Kelleher on Sunday. This triathlon was in honor of , a man who served the community of Rumson through his devoted volunteerism. Kelleher passed away in 2009 from an unexpected heart condition. His love for triathlons, fitness and children was the heart of Sunday's race. Click to check out photos from the event and see who had the best times.

5. Gardening in Fair Haven: Lauren Mattia from The REAL Jersey Shore visited her neighbor for some tips on gardening and getting rid of those pesky moles. And after 30 years of gardening in Fair Haven, her friend Marilyn sure knows what she is doing! Click to watch the video.
