5 Things You Need to Know Today: July 7

Here is a list of 5 things you need to know today:

1. Chance of Showers: According to the National Weather Service, today will be mostly sunny with a high near 90 degrees. There is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11am. Tonight will be mostly cloudy with a low around 70 degrees. There is a chance of showers and thunderstorms mainly before 10:00 p.m. Chance of precipitation is 30%. 

2. Police Blotter: According to a police blotter prepared by Detective Jesse Dykstra, Fair Haven was victim to a lot of vandalism and robbery this June. These types of crimes took up over 50 percent of the blotter for the entire month. Among the 6 other incidents that were reported in the blotter were a DWI, juveniles eluding officers and one report of an arrest due to possession of cocaine. 3. Motorists Beware: from July 7 to 21, Sycamore Avenue will be closed to traffic near the Little Silver NJ Transit station for repairs to the crossing, which includes renewal of the track bed and road surface. The project will result in a smoother ride for motorists traveling over the crossing, according to an NJ Transit release. 4. Rubber Cars: Wise words from Mom's Talk Columnist, Amy Byrnes: "Here are some things that I would invent if I could just find the time: a self-cleaning refrigerator; zero-calorie Chardonnay and rubber cars for my teenage drivers. The first two items would significantly improve my standard of living while the bouncy cars would help keep in check my steadily increasing car insurance premium."
