A round-up of useful information and events happening around Rumson and Fair Haven today.

Here is a list of 5 things you need to know today:

1. Rain, Rain, Go Away: According to the National Weather Service, to day will be partly sunny with a high near 89 degrees. There is a chance of showers and thunderstorms and a south wind between 11 and 14 mph. Tonight, the showers and thunderstorms could continue with mostly cloudy skies and a low around 72. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. There will be a south wind around 10 mph becoming northwest. 

2. Book Signing: Elizabeth Brundage has published three successful novels and has a fourth near completion. She is in the midst of a book tour promoting her latest, A Stranger Like You, and visited for a book signing. Those who attended found her in a cozy nook created at the front of the shop with comfortable wing chairs, candles and refreshments of wine and cheese. 3. Women Saving Lives: The National Park Service hosted the 27th Annual All-Women Lifeguard Tournament at the Sandy Hook Unit of Gateway National Recreation Area on Wednesday, July 27. The event is a matter of patrol pride and also to showcase the high level of fitness and skill women bring to surf-lifeguarding.  The Tournament was suggested and created by lifelong guards, Jill Friedman and Carl Martinez. 4. Fun at the Fair: The 37th Annual Monmouth County Fair kicks off at 5 p.m. Wednesday in Freehold, bringing five days of rides, contests, food and amusement for the whole family.The Fair, sponsored by the Monmouth County Park System and the Monmouth County 4-H Association, will be held on the East Freehold Park Showgrounds at 1500 Koslowski Road and runs through Sunday. Click to see a slideshow of yesterday's happenings. 5. Pitch a Tent: The camp-out in Fair Haven Fields has been postponed until tomorrow due to weather. If you plan on camping out, head to the fields around 7:00 Saturday with your tent and sleep stuff for set-up. Once ready to go, enjoy fun family activities including making s'mores, listening to music, and socializing with neighbors and friends.
