A round-up of useful information and events happening around Rumson and Fair Haven today.

Here is a list of 5 things you need to know today:

1. A Beautiful Day: According to the National Weather Service, today will be mostly sunny with a high near 88 degrees. There will be a south wind between 6 and 10 mph. Tonight will be mostly clear with a low around 71 degrees and a south wind between 5 and 9 mph. 

2. Helping Traffic: The traffic light at the intersection of Prospect Avenue and Harding Road will become fully operational at 10 a.m. Wednesday, with members of the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders scheduled to be on hand to dedicate the new signal. Click for more information.

3. Filling Shoes: The Riverview Medical Center Foundation has a new chairman. Domenic DiPiero, a member of the foundation board since 2005 and a Rumson resident, replaces George Kolber, whose term as chairman recently expired. Click to read more about his new position.

4. Open Space: During the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders’ regular meeting Thursday, the governing body recognized communities that completed Municipal Open Space Grants projects in the past year. Rumson and Fair Haven were some of the 15 towns were awarded matching grants up to $250,000 for open space preservation and development projects. Click to read what for.

5. Repairing Roads: The freeholder board approved the county’s participation with Rumson on improvements to Shrewsbury Drive. The improvements include new storm water drainage and sewerage, which will drain both Rumson Road, a county road, and Shrewsbury Drive.
