5 Things You Need to Know Today: Jan. 31

A round-up of useful information and events happening around Rumson and Fair Haven today.

Here is a list of 5 things you need to know today:

1. This Afternoon: When you step outside, you may think it is May. According to the National Weather Service, today will be mostly sunny with a high near 55 degrees and a west wind around 14 mph. Tonight, there is a slight chance of showers after 4am. Other than that, the evening will be mostly cloudy with a low around 42 degrees and a west wind between 8 and 13 mph.

2. Army Style: Members of the RFH Rowing team got to work-out and test their technical skills Army style. The team traveled to West Point in New York on Sunday, Jan. 23. The team had the opportunity to try out the equiptment in the United States Military Academy’s indoor rowing tanks and experience practice like colligiate rowers. 3. Oceanic Bridge: According to Monmouth County officials, repair work on the on the 100-foot, center bascule span of the Oceanic Bridge, that connects Rumson and is proceeding on schedule. Click to read more about how this project is coming.

4. Communiversity: This week Brookdale will host a workshop for prospective students who want to earn their bachelor's or master's degree locally through the NJ Coastal Communiversity. The first of a series of workshops on the Communiversity will be held Feb. 2 at  at 11 a.m. in the Student Life Center. Prospective students will learn the essential elements of completing their degree program. Communiversity partners include: Rutgers University, New Jersey Institute of Technology, New Jersey City University (NJCU), Georgian Court University and Montclair State University. 5. Go Dawgs! boys basketball team takes on Saint John Vienny tonight in the RFH gym. The game starts at 6:30 p.m. Be sure to be there in you best purple attire to support the team!
