Here is a list of 5 things you need to know today:

1. Rain and Clouds: According to the National Weather Service, today will be filled with rain and a high near 51. It will be breezy, with a southwest wind between 17 and 20 mph. Tonight, the showers will continue before dinner time and then it will be cloudy with a low around 38 degrees with a west wind around 18 mph.

2. Love Animals:  in will host the Monmouth County SPCA's Valentine's Brunch, as the shelter will honor its volunteers and recently-created advertising campaign. The annual event will be held on Feb. 12 at 11 a.m. for the organization which, according to a release, saved the lives of over 4,000 animals in 2011. Click to check out how to get tickets.
