HIYA!

Hello Rumson and Fair Haven! Noel is moving to the county seat to run Freehold Patch and I've hopped over to you after editing Little Silver-Oceanport Patch for the past year. I'm looking forward to meeting you and reporting on what matters to peninsula people. If you've got any news tips you think I ought to investigate, give me a call at 732-556-7039 or e-mail Greg.Kulaga@patch.com.

When I do Five Things, I like to go back and look at what happened on this date in history. So here we go...

"Do you believe in miracles? Yes!"

32 years ago today in 1980, the U.S. men's olympic hockey team upset the Soviet Union for the gold medal in Lake Placid, NY. The win, widely known today as "The Miracle On Ice," was significant for the Americans, who were a team of amateurs going up against the professionals of the Soviet Red Army during the Cold War period of high tensions with the USSR.

Dawgs Go For Hockey Glory

Speaking of hockey, the RFH Dawgs head down Ridge Road this afternoon to meet the Red Bank Regional Buccaneers at Armory Ice Rink for a Dowd Cup semifinals game. The first puck drops at 2:30 p.m.

Boards of Ed to Meet

Rumson's Board of Education meets tonight at Forrestdale School while the Fair Haven Board of Education meets at Knollwood Elementary School, both at 7:30 p.m.
