5 Things You Need to Know Today: Dec. 21

A round-up of useful information and events happening around Rumson and Fair Haven today.

Here is a list of 5 things you need to know today:

1. Rain, Rain, Go Away: According to the National Weather Service, today will be rainy with a high near 55 degrees and a south wind between 6 and 11 mph. Tonight, the rain will continue mainly before midnight. There will be a low around 45 degrees and a west wind between 11 and 18 mph.

2. Happy Hanukkah: The Jewish community in the Two River Area will be coming together at  (CBI) in Rumson to celebrate Hanukkah with family, friends and neighbors. On Wednesday, December 21 at 5:30 p.m. celebrations start the holiday with the lighting of the giant menorah, also known as a Chanukiah, outside the synagogue. 3. Light Up the Shore: Can't make the community lighting? Click to see a bunch of programs sponsored by Chabad of the Shore that will take place over the eight day festival including one at Shrewsbury Borough Hall, Pier Village and the Monmouth Mall.

4. Ice Dawgs: (RFH) Ice Hockey added another win to the list making their current record 5-0. Last night the RFH Dawgs lifted their record to 5-0 after a dominating win 8-0 over Jackson Liberty. Click to read a blog about the game.

5. Christmas Shipping: Yesterday was the last day to ship international via the United States Postal Service if you’re hoping your items arrive by Christmas.
