5 Things You Need to Know Today: August 31

A round-up of useful information and events happening around Rumson and Fair Haven today.

Here is a list of 5 things you need to know today:

1. A Beautiful Day! According to the National Weather Service, today will be mostly sunny with a high near 81 degrees. There will be a southeast wind between 6 and 8 mph. Tonight will be partly cloudy with a low around 63 degrees and a south wind around 5 mph becoming calm. 

2. Got Power? Water and ice are available to all JCP&L customers without power. Residents can pick up water and ice free of charge at Acme Supermarket, 576 River Road in Fair Haven. Customers should go to the courtesy desk and report that they are a JCP&L customer out of power. Click to read a power outage update from Fair Haven Borough. 3. Cleaning Up After Irene: In consideration of the recent storm, the Fair Haven’s normal brush pick-up schedule has been suspended. Residents will be allowed to place storm debris curbside anytime during the month of September and the Borough’s DPW will pick up brush on an ongoing basis. Also, during the month of September only, no summons will be issued for placing brush outside of your scheduled placement week. The normal pick-up schedule will resume in October.

4. Grand Slam Opening: Woody's Ocean Grille opened Monday night with a grand slam. The place was packed! The bar was four people deep and families happily waited out side for over an hour to be seated in the newly renovated restaurant. Once seated, patrons dined on delicious and colorful "coastal cuisine" in what once was Ichabod's in Sea Bright. Click to see photos from the opening night.
