5 Things You Need to Know Today: April 26

A round-up of useful information and events happening around Rumson and Fair Haven today.

Here is a list of 5 things you need to know today:

1.Warm and Grey: Today will be mostly cloudy with a high near 76. According to the National Weather Service, there is a slight chance of showers into the evening and thunderstorms after 11pm. There will be a low around 60. 

2.  Mayor for the Day: Jamie Bratone, an enthusiastic third grader from Viola L. Sickles School, got to be the Mayor of Fair Haven for a day. Bratone’s mother won the Mayor for a Day auction at the Fair Haven PTA’s 27th Annual Luncheon on March 12. At the council meeting last night, Bratone sat next to Mayor Halfacre and called to order, closed sessions and assisted throughout the meeting. 3. Car vs. Store: Police are currently investigating a single that took place Monday afternoon on River Road in Fair Haven. According to the Fair Haven Police Department, the unidentified driver of a four-door sedan apparently drove into the storefront of the All Things Consignment shop at 606 River Road shortly before 2:0op.m. No one was injured in the afternoon crash. The cause of the accident is still unknown and is being investigated by Fair Haven Police. 

4. Art Show: Rumson Fair Haven High School held its Senior Art Show called 66 Frames at the Guild of Creative Art in Shrewsbury on April 23.  The exhibit showcased some of the student’s best work in a variety of media.  These students are all part of Rumson Fair Haven’s advanced placement art program, many will be continuing to study art at the college level in the Fall. 5. Local Treasure: Fair Haven has a peaceful oasis just steps off of River Rd. This hidden gem is a labyrinth located behind the Church of the Holy Communion on Church St. This special location is open to the public for free, day and night all year round.
