Spring House Invitational Golf and Track Outing Friday at Pebble Creek Helps Families Achieve Independence

Tomorrow's Spring House Invitation Golf & Track Outing Helps Low-Income Families in Monmouth County Transition to Self-Sufficiency.

On Friday, May 31, over 100 golfers will tee off at Pebble Creek Golf Club in Colts Neck to support the Spring House Residential Services Program, which provides counseling and education to residents living in housing throughout Monmouth County managed by the Affordable Housing Alliance. In the afternoon, golfers will join other guests for an afternoon barbeque at Monmouth Park Race Track in Oceanport.

Twenty-three years ago Spring House began as a transitional housing facility and program in Eatontown, NJ that enabled single women and their children to move from homelessness and dependency  to permanent housing and self-sufficiency through a Residential Services Program that provided career counseling, job training, childcare, parenting education, nutrition and budget counseling.

Earlier this year, Spring House announced a merger with the Affordable Housing Alliance (AHA). The non-profit Affordable Housing Alliance was formed in 1991 and today is a leader in the construction and sales of affordable housing as well as a provider of programs and services including new homeownership education, financial literacy training, foreclosure counseling, and utility assistance. Most recently, AHA developed seventeen affordable new manufactured homes to provide long-term housing for Superstorm Sandy survivors and offers a range of programs specifically to support families displaced by Superstorm Sandy.

Donna Blaze, CEO of the Affordable Housing Alliance, believes that affordable housing is key to self-sufficiency. “Coordinated by licensed social workers, the Spring House Residential Services Program helps low-income families, single-parent families, the elderly, and the disabled living in AHA’s affordable housing gain additional skills and services to become more financially independent and self sufficient, and in turn, helps to sustain neighborhoods and build stronger communities.”

Chris Smith, owner of Val’s Tavern in Rumson, is Chair of the Spring House Invitational Golf and Track Outing. “It’s great to have such an outstanding response for tomorrow’s outing and to support this important program.”
