Fashion on a Budget? Add Jewelry!

Even in times of economic stress, fashion forges on.

The best trick to dressing on a budget is to add eye catching jewelry and accessories.

Start with a basic, wallet-friendly outfit that has clean simple lines and a neutral color palette. This will allow you to change those few outfits to many by easily changing accessories.  Then, you can get a fashion forward look by wearing larger, bold and colorful earrings or by layering several different necklaces that have varying lengths or by stacking many types of fun bracelets together on one wrist.

Key things to remember are the scale, proportion and balance of your pieces. For example, if you are wearing larger dramatic earrings you would want to wear a "quieter" smaller scale necklace or no necklace at all. Another scenario, if you are a bracelet lover and like to pile on your favorite bracelets. then you may want to minimize the size and number of rings on that hand.

When purchasing your baubles, some trends you will see and might like to "play" with are metals and metal designs mixed with other materials such as leathers, linen cord and fibers such as ribbons. Single pieces that have rustic and refined qualities side by side are fun to wear! This can give a rugged rocker element to your style statement.

Spiritual, zen and ethic findings built into a design add visual interest which can trigger feelings and start a conversation.  How cool is that?

Another tip to remember is that color turquoise is always strong and remains very "now." Go ahead and bring out those older turquoise jewels or make a purchase of some gorgeous turquoise beauty now. It will look great with many other colors such as orange, pink, yellow, red, tan, brown, blue, etc.

Remember, your fashion sense doesn't have to suffer if you are a budget - just add some jewelry!

Happy Spring!
