Booskerdoo to Take JavaStop's Spot

The popular Monmouth Beach coffee roaster expects to open for business in March.

Fear not, coffee loving Fair Havenites. Your beloved Java Stop may be gone, but the aroma of freshly roasted beans is headed your way.

Booskerdoo Coffee Co., the cofffee shop and roaster located in Monmouth Beach, will open its second location this spring in the former Java Stop spot on River Road.

"It's a beautiful spot," said Booskerdoo owner James Caverly. "Fair Haven is such a great town, and I'm excited to be a part of it."

Caverly is also looking forward to the high traffic location. Tucked away off Beach Road, he calls his Monmouth Beach store "a little gem off the beaten path."

The new cafe, which will be retail only, should be a "wallop," Caverly said. The coffee company is a micro-roaster and specializes in organic and fairly traded varieties whipping up its own blends, like Jersey Diner. Booskerdoo offers online orders and a coffee-of-the-month club.

The Asbury Park resident said he recently took over the lease to the shop and plans to renovate the space to look more like the other location, which has a masculine feel with deep grays trimmed with black and red accents. "Masculine, but sensitive," he joked.

He will also make the restroom accessible to the public, extend the coffee bar, add soft lighting and generally "Booskerdoo it," he said.

The revamped space will also include a bakery called Kruffeful, featuring the recipes of his wife Amelia, who is a full time teacher with a passion for baking.

The new shop isn't the only new venture the Caverlys are launching though. Amelia is due to have a baby girl on Feb. 26, making the projected March opening date a bit of a guestimate.

The opening James said, should be "right around the time that cute little Claire Caverly is born."

So happy the spot will not be left empty for long - and even happier not to have to travel all the way to Monmouth Beach for one of my favorite cups of coffee!

I'll miss the java stop, their prices, and the people (trudy) who worked there. Expensive coffee places are everywhere, good coffee at reasonable prices is getting harder & harder to find. Good luck with ur venture boobalkoo.. Or whatever.. But I will no longer be a patron.

Super glad this crew is coming to FH. They have awesome coffee and know how to make it with no uppity vibe.

Trudy, and all Java Stop employees, have been invited to join the new set up at their coffee shop. We invited Trudy to work in Monmouth Beach during Java Stop's hiatus, but she decided to go on an extended vacation. But she will be back!

Trudy will be back, as will other JS originals. :)
