Two River Pride Focus on Youth, Education

The first annual event featured an open mic, musical talent, and advice from gay leaders and allies in the Two River area.

Ultimately, you just want to know you're not alone. 

Growing up, David Pascale said he struggled to find a role model he could look up to. The openly gay Red Bank Human Relations Committee chairman knew only that he was different and said he struggled as a youth to find a community that would welcome him with open arms.

Children, teens and young adults need to know, he said, that there are people out there that are like you, have shared similar experiences, and now have wisdom to impart.

On Wednesday, Red Bank hosted its first annual Two River Pride event to a packed house at . The event focused on youth and education, bringing together young members of the LGBT community as well as gay allies in an effort to foster community among the younger generation.

The event featured talks from LGBT leaders and successful business men and woman and gay allies, as well as musical performances from the likes of Giving Voice Choir and Josh Zuckerman, and refreshments from various local eateries.
