Pink in Pinkson to Fight Breast Cancer

Rumson's Paint the Town Pink name is Pinkson

It's a sure sign of the May Meridian Health's Paint the Town Pink breast cancer awareness campaign — "Welcome to Pinkson."

That's the sign seen hanging on the tennis courts at Victory Park in Rumson just as people get into town. But you won't see any paint.

As part of the campaign, officials agreed to allow Meridian representatives come into town, put up the sign, add pink lights to what is the borough Christmas tree, and hang bows on the utility poles along West through East River Road. And businesses were invited to join in and decorate.

Rumson officials approved the signs, but specified, at a recent Borough Council meeting, that they'd like to make sure Meridian has the sign and lights removed a week before the town Memorial Day parade. In years past, officials had said, the decorations have stayed up too long into the summer.

Like Fair Haven, they opted to not have a pink stripe painted in the road, as it, even when painted over in black, resurfaces.

All were, nonetheless supportive of the borough showing support for breast cancer awareness.

So, businesses and residents have joined in.

Take a look at the above photos for a sample of some of the business decorations and feel free to add your own if we've missed you.
