Malik took home the Basie Award for Outstanding Costumes in a Drama and Outstanding Costume Design in a Musical on Wednesday night.

Carole Malike has been designing costumes for Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School shows for over 10 years. She makes all of the theatre costumes in house and her hard work and talent were recognized at this year's Basie Awards.

On May 25, the Count Basie Theatre announced winners for its .  The distinction recognizes outstanding achievement in the dramatic and musical theater productions of Monmouth County's high school theater companies. Malik dominated the Outstanding Costume Design category taking home two awards" one for design in a drama and another for design in a musical.

When preparing for this year's musical, Sweeney Todd, Malik explained that it takes months to get the costumes together and a great deal of attention is paid to each detail of every costume. Aside from teaching the students to sew, Malik teaches the students the costume design element of theatre. It has certainly paid off, as the Tower Players have won the coveted Basie Award for costume design in the past.
