For the Art of the Fair Haven Scene

Artist Mike Quon donates original prints showcasing the borough.

Artist Mike Quon lives in and loves Fair Haven.

And, purely for the love of Fair Haven, he's spilled that love right onto canvas and print. The well-known graphic artist captured a couple of things that epitomize the small suburban riverside borough with his signature "colorful, bold brushstroke style," and given the artwork to the borough to hang in its halls and share with all.

One piece showcases a shorebird, reminiscent of those seen on many a stroll along the Navesink River. The other is a landscape of the Fair Haven Dock, every native Fair Havenite's home base of identity.

After losing a large chunk of it to Hurricane Sandy, the dock is again fully functional.

"He's a really interesting, great guy," Mayor Ben Lucarelli said of Quon. "We struck up a conversation at an event. I had no idea that he was the artist and, all along, I had been a fan of his work. He said he wanted to give these pieces to the borough, and that's just what he did. His work is amazing."
