You're Invited: Fair Haven Centennial Gala

Celebrate 100 years of Fair Haven with a special occasion and raise money for the centennial celebration in June.

Fair Haven is throwing the party of the century, and you’re invited!

“It’s going to be a remarkable event, at an exquisite location, to celebrate a monumental event,” said Charlie Hoffman, director of the Fair Haven Recreation Department.

The Fair Haven Centennial Gala will be held on Saturday, March 10 at the . According to the fundraiser invitation, there will be food, music and much more.

This is the second celebration of a Fair Haven anniversary. Last year, residents of their beloved borough and this year is expected to be 100 times the fun.

“The 99 year gala was a great success and this year’s event is already proving to be the party that only happens once every hundred years,” said Councilwoman Susan Sorensen. “We’ve improved the event by adding a live auction and a band,” said the councilwoman.

The cost to attend the event is $55 per person, $100 per couple. There are also different levels of sponsorship available.

Reservations are required in advance and space is limited. Checks may be made out to Foundation of Fair Haven and dropped off at the Borough Hall or mailed to Centennial Gala, PO Box 6397, Fair Haven, NJ.

The gala is a fundraiser for the Centennial Celebration scheduled for June 16th, which will include a parade, party in the park, games, food, music and fireworks. With the money raised at the gala and other events, the celebration will be free for all residents.

All of these events are part of a long list of centennial events.

“To commemorate this momentous occasion, we have planned a year-long calendar of events including concerts, galas, picnics and fireworks,” said Cathy Alescio of the Fair Haven Centennial Committee.

Below is the 2012 Fair Haven Centennial Events Schedule:

January: Re-organization Meeting at

February: Assembly on February 29 and a creative arts contest. For the contest, students in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade are encouraged to submit a drawing or painting of a picture that celebrates the theme of “100 great years of Fair Haven”, 5th and 6th graders are asked to submit essays describing why they love Fair Haven and 7th and 8th graders can submit a visual expression (ie: a video, piece of art, comic strip) that fits the theme. The deadline for applications is February 21 and the winners in each category will receive a $100 stimulus check usable at a variety of Fair Haven businesses.

March: Centennial Gala at
