Over 300 People Celebrate Spring With the 32nd Annual Easter Egg Hunt at Victory Park

On April 17th, 2011 Rumson families come together to enjoy a day of fun hosted by the local fire departments.

About 5 minutes before the siren went off to officially begin the egg hunt there were over 300 men, women, and children standing at the lines the egg hunt sections that were littered with chocolate eggs and bunnies at Victory Park.

“We have a great turn out every year. It’s a nice day today, in the past we’ve had some of our annual egg hunts when it was very cold or snowing,” said Bob Maras.

Each part of the park was sectioned off for different age groups. Section 1 was for ages 1-4 year old children, section 2 was for ages 5-7 year old children, and section 3 was for 8-10 year old children.

When the siren blasted, the children ran past the lines with their Easter baskets and bags, many of them with smiles on their faces, as they found treats and some showing their parents what they found before they put them into their baskets. The children that found hidden Easter eggs within all 3 egg hunt sections won special prizes that were being redeemed at the Volunteer Fire Dept table located near the bandstand. Easter baskets filled with Easter treats, chocolate fire trucks, boogie boards, super soakers, jump ropes, bat and ball sets were some of the prizes given away to the lucky hunters.

Within about 20 minutes after the egg hunt began, all the treats were gone and the crowd slowly started thinning out. It was a pretty windy day but the sun was bright and all who came had a good time and left with smiles.
