Knollwood School Graduation Dance A Shore Good Time

8th grade graduates from Knollwood School were surprised Wednesday night to discover the theme of their dance: "It's A Shore Thing"

The 8th grade class of 2011 from Knollwood School were thrilled to find out the theme of their long awaited graduation dance: "It's A Shore Thing."

After their graduation at Rumson-Fair Haven High School, the students marched down Third Street from Knollwood to Sickles school to reach the dance they have been waiting for all year. This is a long time tradition for Fair Haven. The students were amazed when they saw the extent of decorations, food, games and fun that awaited them at Sickles.

A dance committee made up of parents have been planning the dance since the fall. Click to read more about all of their efforts.

The Sickles School gym was decorated to remind the 8th grade class of Sea Bright Beach. "Most of these kids have grown up knowing Sea Bright, it's their beach," said Molly Taft, chair of the decorating committee. "We wanted to bring those memories to life here at this dance."

Umbrellas, beach chairs, surf boards and other shore themed decorations covered the gym. Chaperons were creatively dressed as life guards and a DJ played music from the stage. Games and a place for the students to have their pictures taken were set up in the gym. In the corner, there was a tent set up with food. Pizza, ice cream and other snacks were served to remind the students of Sea Bright.

"This is beyond anything I expected," said Bethany Parsons, an excited graduate. "I knew the dance would be awesome, but this really blew my mind. The parents did such a great job."
