Icy, Snowy Weather Alert: Speed Limit Reduced on Turnpike, Parkway


Speed limit restrictions are in place on the New Jersey Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway as another wave of snow and cold weather is set to bear down on the area.

The speed limit on the New Jersey Turnpike has been reduced to 35 miles an hour in both directions between the Delaware Memorial Bridge in Pennsville and exit 8 for exit 3 for Route 168 in Runnemede due to road conditions, according to the New Jersey Turnpike Authority’s website. 

It reaches 45 miles an hour between Runnemede and exit 8 for Route 33 in East Windsor. It's also 45 miles an hour between the George Washington Bridge in Carlstadt to the the George Washington Bridge in Fort Lee.

The speed limit on the Garden State Parkway has been reduced to 45 miles an hour in both directions between Exit 105 in Tinton Falls/Long Branch and New York State Line in Montvale due to road conditions.

According to a special weather statement issued by the National Weather Service Saturday morning, snow will be developing along the I-95 corridor which may result in slippery travel conditions between Philadelphia and Maryland and around New Brunswick and Trenton.

Temperatures will remain in the 20s and snow is expected to accumulate quickly, resulting in between one and two inches. The National Weather Service warns drivers to be cautious of rapidly deteriorating road conditions.
